First the DVD: it has 12 chapters; but in the Menu, chapters are not listed as an option to click on and view them for selection. The DVD also has subtitles AND captions! Hooray! Captions are great, as "creaking" and "thudding" sounds are not noted in subtitles.

The movie was a great remake of Amityville II of 1982. I liked seeing Diane Franklin again, this time playing the mother of the Defeo family. I agree with the previous reviewer that info from documentaries was used in the movie, such as the mention of Native Indians burying the dear with the faces down. ( Honestly, I haven't seen any of documentaries, but it's nice to read his review of them. They just add to my knowledge of the background of the area where the murders happened.) Like the reviewer, I have been fascinated by the events of the murders since the 1979 movie came out in theatres, and I have a few "Amityville" movies. What I liked about the movie was it's ending which showed archival footage of Walter Cronkite's mention of the murders, images of Butch Defeo himself, and the cemetery stone showing their names. The notation that the Amityville house is considered the most haunted house in the world is something I found interesting. If that is true, it's because of all the notoriety the house has received due to all Amityville movies made.

The Amityville Murders, très bon film sur l histoire DeFeo et la maison d Amityville. On y retrouve Diane Franklin (Patricia dans Amityville II) dans le rôle de la mère de famille. Je le conseil à tous les fans. Malheureusement dvd anglais sans VF et sans sous titres. C est étonnant que ce film n est pas sorti en France en blu ray et dvd comme dans de nombreux pays dont l Angleterre et l Allemagne. J espère que ce film sera édité en France pareil pour Amityville The Awakening.

I absolutely love this one. I was rather dubious after reading some negative reviews about it, but fortunately my gamble paid off. For a start it's not low budget at all, I've seen low budget and this isn't one of them. The performance's are top notch and it was nice to see some familiar faces from Amityville 2, the supernatural elements are quite scary in parts, with the shadow people roaming about the place, the occult practices were touched upon but it never makes the movie tacky at all. Great to see the original house in it too, although a lot of it was CGI. All in all, definitely one of the better additions to the series and I one I am happy to have in my collection. Definitely looking forward to watching this one again, but considering that I'm spooked easily, I probably won't be watching it alone.
